L'exposition Louis XIV, l'homme et le roi rassemble plus de 300 oeuvres exceptionnelles provenant de collections du monde entier, et jamais réunies jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Peintures, sculptures, objets d’art, mobilier seront ainsi exposés. Ces chefs-d’oeuvre, pour certains jamais présentés en France depuis l’Ancien Régime, permettront au public de mieux connaître le célèbre monarque tant par ses goûts personnels que par son image publique.

Christian Boltanski, one of the key figures of French contemporary art, was born in Paris in 1944 and went on to develop an international career in the 1970s that has placed him in the ranks of the world’s leading contemporary artists. Individual memory and the passage of time are recurring themes in the work of Christian Boltanski, who has devised “Personnes” especially for the Monumenta exhibition at the Grand Palais. In this installation combining visual impact and sound, he tackles the question of destiny and the ineluctability of death.
