The apartment is in an area of Barcelona called south Eixample, but sits on the outskirts of El Raval, inside where the medieval city walls used to be. The area is rich in culture, especially gastronomical, the nearest example of this being the market at Sant Antoni, where you can pick up everything from freshly caught mussels to macadamia nuts to south American bananas. The surrounding area had an incredibly varied cultural heritage, and this shows itself in the variety of international choices available in the local restaurants.

The must visits of Barcelona include Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia, casa batilo and La Pedera. These were all completed during the turn of the century by Antonio Gaudi, Barcelona’s most innovative of architects. Now it is possible to see his influence all over Barcelona city centre and in general the organic art nouveau style remains popular.
